The National Medical Commission (NMC) has released the new syllabus for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for the Undergraduate course. The NEET UG 2024 syllabus has been finalised by the Under Graduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) of the NMC. NEET UG is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
In an official notification released by NMC, the commission said, "It is notified to all the stakeholders especially to the aspiring candidates that the Under Graduate Medical Education Board, an autonomous body under National Medical commission has finalised the NEET (UG)-2024 syllabus. The same has been uploaded on NMC's website for the reference of the public at large. The stakeholders are advised to refer to the updated syllabus for NEET (UG)-2024 for the preparation of the study material and for preparation of NEET (UG) examinations for academic session 2024-25."
NMC released the syllabus after a plea was filed before the Delhi High Court bench seeking a direction to the concerned authorities to provide the syllabus for NEET-UG 2024 and also to update the same on the website. In reference to the fact that NCERT has reduced / deleted many chapters from the books of Class 11th and 12th in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology, the petitioner submitted that since the syllabus of NEET-UG is based on the NCERT course books, the aspiring candidates wanted that the NEET UG-2024 syllabus is also updated accordingly.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) (NEET-UG) is an entrance exam for students who want to study undergraduate medical, dental, and AYUSH courses in India.
