Assam Assembly Election Results 2026 LIVE: BJP's Rupak Sarmah Wins In Nagaon-batadraba Constituency

Bharatiya Janata Party's Rupak Sarmah wins in Nagaon-Batadraba with 113,958 votes, while Indian National Congress's Durlav Chamua is the runner-up with 40,540 votes.

As two rounds are left, Rupak Sarmah from the BJP continues to lead with a margin of 95363 votes. It seems he will be crowned the winner of Nagaon-batadraba constituency, adding a win in the BJP's bag.

As per trends of the Election Commission of India (ECI), the BJP led in 79 seats, the Indian National Congress is ahead in 23 seats, followed by the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) with 10 seats, and the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) with 9 seats. The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) is leading in 2 seats, while Raijor Dal (RJRD) and the United People's Party, Liberal (UPPL) are ahead in two and one seat, respectively. 

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised to sweep back to power in Assam with a commanding lead in 98 seats, signalling a decisive mandate that transcends mere incumbency. The landslide victory highlights a stark failure for the Congress-led opposition. Despite leadership changes and a desperate campaign to reclaim lost ground, Congress has been unable to woo back its traditional support bases. The party's inability to regain the trust of the Ahom community, tea garden tribes, and even Muslim voter groups that were once the bedrock of the party in Upper Assam has left it decimated across key constituencies.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told reporters, “We have completely turned around Assam. Today, people are seeing a new Assam, based on our strong culture and heritage. People, except Bangladeshi infiltrators, are with the BJP. No local indigenous Indian people will vote for Congress.”

"Who wants to go to Congress? Congress can't form its government in India; it can form it in Pakistan. Then how can I go to Congress? Congress can never form the government in India. When Congress forms, it will be in either Pakistan or Bangladesh," he added.

As Rupak Sarmah continues to lead in Nagaon-Batadraba, the NOTA count has increased to 728.

NOTA count in the Silchar constituency has reached 471.

The Silchar constituency experienced a surprising development as Dr. Rajdeep Roy from the Bharatiya Janata Party took the lead, surpassing Abhijit Paul from the Indian National Congress. So far, Dr. Rajdeep Roy has received 20,353 votes, while Abhijit Paul has garnered 18,273 votes.

While BJP's Prasanta Phukan continues to lead, the NOTA count has increased to 400 in the constituency.

Bharatiya Janata Party's Prasanta Phukan has earned 10465 votes so far. He is giving a tough fight to Assam Jatiya Parishad's Mainak Patra and Vikas India Party's Kamal Hazarika.

Biswajit Daimary of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) is now leading with 20436 votes. Pramod Boro from United People's Party, Liberal trails with 12239 votes.

In the Tamulpur Assembly constituency, there were 213,846 registered voters in the electoral rolls for the 2026 Assembly election. Among them, 107,458 were male, 106,387 were female, and 1 belonged to the third gender.

Counting is underway across all 126 assembly seats in Assam, with the BJP leading in 57 constituencies. The party needs 7 more to reach the majority mark of 64. BJP is being closely followed by Congress, leading in 30 seats at this stage.

In Silchar constituency, Indian National Congress' Abhijit Paul is leading with 5079 votes. He is being closely followed by the Bhartiya Janta Party's Dr Rajdeep Roy with 4236 votes.

After Dibrugarh and Nagaon-batadraba, the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) is now leading in Tamulpur. Biswajit Daimary from the BJP has so far earned 5290 votes, and he is being closely followed by the United People's Party, Liberal Pramod Boro with 2913 votes.
 

Key candidates in Dibrugarh constituency are Kamal Hazarika, Mainak Patra and Prasanta Phukan from major parties Vikas India Party, Assam Jatiya Parishad, and BJP.

Speaking to ANI, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal says, "The result will be as we had expected. The NDA government will be formed again under the leadership of the BJP. We said this with confidence that we are close to 100 (seats) with our allies."

 BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, Sunil Sharma, on Monday expressed confidence in the party's performance across multiple states as counting for the Assembly elections progresses. Speaking to ANI, Sharma said that the support shown by voters indicates a strong mandate in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "The kind of love and support people have shown to the BJP and PM Modi, it is clear that it is forming governments in Assam, West Bengal and Puducherry. We are also guessing that the vote share will increase a great deal in Tamil Nadu and Keralam..." he said. Highlighting the party's prospects in Assam, Sharma credited the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the BJP's organisational strength at the grassroots level. "Support for Modi and Himanta Biswa Sarma, and strong grassroot base makes us confident that BJP is going to get a third term in Assam..." he added.

In the Dibrugarh Assembly Election Results, Bhartiya Janta Party's (BJP) Prasanta Phukan has taken an early lead.

In Nagaon-batadraba, Bhartiya Janta Party's (BJP) Rupak Sarmah is leading.

In the 2021 assembly election, the United People's Party Liberal's Leho Ram Boro won by a margin of 32,183 votes.  The Bodoland Peoples Front’s Rangja Khungur Basumatary was the runner-up, securing 46,635 votes.

Tamulpur is one of the 11 segments of the Darrang-Udalguri Lok Sabha constituency in Assam. Established in 1978, it has traditionally been held by Independent candidates who have won a maximum of five terms.
