The public was watching everything. People were troubled due to cut-money. They got their voting rights and wiped out TMC. Today, people are thanking the Election Commission for the first time that they got the right to vote. TMC goons used to capture booths, but Gyanesh Kumar conducted clean voting... Gaighata: The Pulse of the Matua Heartland

Gaighata is a critical "must-watch" constituency because it serves as the ground zero for Matua politics and the high-stakes battle over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). As part of the Bangaon Lok Sabha belt, this SC-reserved seat is a direct test of the BJP’s hold over the Matua community, especially following the controversial Special Intensive Revision (SIR) that saw thousands of names removed from the electoral rolls. With sitting BJP MLA Subrata Thakur defending his turf against the TMC’s Narottam Biswas, the result here is a definitive barometer for whether the promise of citizenship still outweighs local anti-incumbency and the fear of voter deletion. Keep a sharp eye on Gaighata; it doesn't just decide an MLA, it signals which way the culturally influential Matua vote is swinging across the entire North 24 Parganas and Nadia districts.
