Maharashtra Civic Body Poll Results Live Updates | Image: Republic

Mumbai: The early trends of the much-awaited high stake Maharashtra civic poll results indicate that the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance seems to be on its way to consolidate its hold in the local body elections. The counting of votes kicked off at 10 am on Friday (January 16, 2026).

With several diverse power equations in the mix, the civic polls results are crucial as it will also indicate who will hold the reins of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in Mumbai, the country's richest civic body. As for latest trends, the BJP-Sena alliance seems to have gotten in hold in Mumbai civic polls, leaving the Thackeray cousins trailing behind.

Other than Mumbai, the results will also point out who will command several other major urban centers in Maharashtra including Pune, Nagpur, Thane, Navi Mumbai and Nashik.

Voting for 29 municipal corporations, including the BMC, concluded on Thursday (January 15, 2026).

The crucial Maharashtra local body poll results will be a test for the Thackeray cousins, Uddhav and Raj, in Mumbai, and the Pawars, uncle Sharad Pawar and his nephew Ajit Pawar, in Pune, given their unique alliance formations ahead of these elections. For the Thackerays, the BMC polls are touted as a ‘fight for survival’, to revive the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the MNS. For the Pawars, it is a test of their consolidated political base in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. However, early trends point out that neither the Pawars, nor the Thackerays have managed to keep their hold in their respective bastions.

'People Not Relying On Speeches': Chandrakant Patil

Maharashtra Minister Chandrakant Patil says, "People are seeing what we have done, not relying on election speeches…People are trusting us based on our past work. We raised this question in people's minds: If they (Shiv Sena UBT) wanted to do development work, why didn't they do it earlier? We did a lot of work even during the two and a half years of COVID-19..."

"Whether the Thackeray brothers come together or Congress and NCP join hands, it is not in the interest of the people. People have understood that this is for their own selfish motives. In Mumbai, BJP will get 90 seats and Shiv Sena 40; this number may increase but will not decrease. In Pune, we will not get less than 115 seats," he added.
