A sea of people gathered on the streets of Mumbai on Monday to bid a final farewell to legendary singer Asha Bhosle as her mortal remains were taken for the last rites at Shivaji Park Crematorium. The city witnessed an emotional outpouring as fans, admirers, and members of the music and film fraternity came together to honour one of India's greatest voices. 

Asha Bhosle breathed her last after suffering a cardiac arrest on April 12. The mortail remains of the singer have been brought to Mumbai's Shivaji Park where she will be laid to rest with full state honours. 

Several Bollywood actors, directors and other insiders arrived at Asha Bhosle's residence to give her a final goodbye. However, several others are expected to join the singer's funeral procession. 

The mortal remains of Asha Bhosle are now being taken to Shivaji Park in Mumbai for her last rites. Fans in large numbers, family members and industry insiders joined the singer's final journey.

Indian cricketer Mohammed Siraj, who shares a sibling-like bond with Zanai Bhosle, arrived at Asha Bhosle's residence to pay his last respects to the legendary singer. He also hugged and consoled crying Zanai.

Music director Uttam Singh paid an emotional tribute to veteran singer Asha Bhosle, calling her an "institution" and recalling her warmth and generosity. Speaking to ANI, Singh remembered a late-night incident when he and his team were leaving her residence after work. "It was around 1:30 at night. As we were about to leave, she saw us and asked us to wait. Within minutes, she went inside, cooked chicken and rice herself and insisted we eat before leaving. She was that kind of person," he said. Recalling his long association with the singer, Singh said it was difficult to single out any one song from her vast repertoire. He, however, mentioned Le Gayi Le Gayi from Dil To Pagal Hai as one of his memorable collaborations with her. He added that he had worked with her across roles as a musician, arranger and later as a music director.
