Actor and casting director Abhishek Banerjee is currently experiencing a peak in his career. An outsider who has been part of Bollywood since 2006, he is set to have two much-awaited releases on Independence Day. He will reprise his beloved character Jana in Stree 2, and in John Abraham’s Vedaa, he will take on the role of the ruthless villain Jitendra Pratap Singh. In a recent interview, Abhishek discussed his experiences as an outsider and the issue of nepotism in the industry.

Abhishek Banerjee shared his experience as an outsider

He mentioned that the upcoming releases on August 15 feature films led by outsiders. He quoted while explaining, “If you look at the films, they are led by outsiders. Similarly, in Stree 2, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj (Tripathi) ji, and director Amar Kaushik are outsiders, who have no background, and no godfather in Bollywood. Yet, their films are among the most-awaited releases."

Abhishek added that these films are created with dedication. He pointed out that the idea that outsiders only succeed with connections is incorrect. He believes that hard work, honing one’s craft, and not being discouraged by failure can lead to success, as demonstrated by these two films.

In a conversation with DNA, the actor quoted in Hindi, "Yeh mehnat wali filmein hai. Itne saare outsiders ki film aa rahi hai, toh yeh jo baat boli jaati hai ki outsiders ko kaam nahi milta jab tak connections na ho. Main yeh do films se keh sakta hoon ki nahi aap bahut kuch kar sakte hai agar aap mehnat se kaam karoge, apne craft pe kaam karoge, and apne aap ko failure se affect nahi hone doge. (These films are made out of hard work. Many outsiders are getting work without having any connections. With the two upcoming films I can vouch that there is much work if you keep working hard and not get affected by failure).”

More Abhishek Banerjee’s career

Abhishek made his debut on screen in Aamir Khan's Rang De Basanti (2006). Despite the success of this film, he did not immediately pursue acting roles.
