Big Buzz/ Anil Kapoor returns as Mr India, producer Boney Kapoor teases a sequel

On Friday, Anil Kapoor had conspicuously deleted all the posts from his Instagram page. This cryptic social media activity from The Night Manager star gained a lot of attention among netizens and rumours began circulating that his social media ‘disappearance’ had something to do with his 1987 cult movie Mr India.

Anil Kapoor reappears on social media as Mr India 

Anil Kapoor did in fact reappear as Mr India. However, this was not for a film but an advertisement for a phone brand.  The Jug Jugg Jeeyo actor took to his Instagram handle on Saturday to share a video with the caption, “The beauty of time, the thing that makes it so precious, is that it never stands still. Our lives are full of highs and lows , appearances and disappearances… Mr. India is a phenomenon that even time could not erase, at once a ghost and the most real person I have ever played."

The actor further wrote in his caption, “In flesh and unfiltered, just the time-tested and timeless soul of Arun Verma reappearing to entertain and thrill you.”

Boney Kapoor teases Mr India sequel

Many celebrities reacted to Anil Kapoor’s post, marveling at how young he was looking in the latest video. Neil Nitin Mukesh wrote in the caption, “It’s like you have found a new gadget to go back In time and look the same. Please please please make MR.INDIA 2."

Meanwhile, Anil’s elder brother and producer Boney Kapoor reshared the video on his social media page, adding a note, “Work in progress for a big screen appearance!”

This has set the rumour mills buzzing again about the possibility of a Mr India sequel. Are the Kapoor brothers contemplating a sequel to their iconic 1987 movie? Mr India, which released on May 29, 1987, was a huge box office hit. Directed by Shekhar Kapur, the film stars Anil Kapoor and Sridevi in the lead roles. Mr India also immortalised Amrish Puri as the ultimate villain figure. He played the iconic role of Mogambo in the film.
