Gadar 2 hit the big screens on August 11 and has been drawing massive audiences to the theatres ever since. The cast of the film, along with director Anil Sharma, reunited today (August 14) to celebrate the success of the movie. While interacting with the media, Sunny Deol and Anil Sharma dished out details about the film’s potential sequel.

3 things you need to know

  • Gadar 2 has become the second-biggest opener of the year in Hindi after Pathaan
  • The film stars Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel in the lead roles as Tara Singh and Sakeena.
  • The movie is a  sequel to the 2001 film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha.

Gadar 2 sequel confirmed?

Gadar 2 ended with the text “to be continued”, which in itself hinted at a possible sequel. This raised questions about a potential sequel, being referred to as Gadar 3

When asked about Gadar 3, Anil Sharma commented, “Intezaar kariye sahab. Intezaar ka faal bahot zyada meetha hota hai jaise ki raha. Kuch vichar toh mann mein aya hai mere aur Shaktiman ji ke aur thoda intezaar kariye. Ho jayega sab. (Please wait sir. Fruits of patience are sweet, as we saw. There are some thoughts in the minds of me and Shaktiman ji).” Previously in conversation with DNA, Sharma mentioned the possible plot line of the film saying, “Perhaps in Gadar 3, Jeete too would have kids, Sunny Deol’s character would be the grandfather, and the characters of all 3 generations could be seen singing and dancing together.”

On a related note, during the press conference, Sunny Deol mentioned that he does not like the term “Bollywood” and urged people not to use it. The actor said, “Saari industry Bollywood hogayi hai". He added, “Pahle Hindi cinema tha. Humme wahi rakhna chahiye. Humme kyu naam lena kisi industry ka. Woh Hollywood hai toh hum Bollywood kyu banne?’” He concluded by saying that cinema should be referred to as “Hindi film industry” and also requested everyone to be proud of being an Indian.
