Here's How Much More Chhaava Needs To Surpass Pathaan At India Box Office
In its fourth weekend, Chhaava surpassed Sunny Deol Gadar 2 to take the tenth spot in the list of highest-grossing films in India.
Chhaava Box Office Collection Day 27: Almost a month into its release, Vicky Kaushal starrer Chhaava is still going strong at the box office. The historical action drama has become the 10th highest-grossing Indian film in the country (nett collections) and is now on track to surpass Pathaan (2023) to become the ninth biggest grosser of all time.
Chhaava eyes box office record of Pathaan
Chhaava collected nearly ₹5 crore on its fourth Wednesday, taking its biz over ₹535 crore in India. Of this, over ₹11 crore has been the collection of the film in Telugu states after its released in the regional language on March 7. Chhaava has collected over ₹525 crore in Hindi. As its fourth weekend wound up, the movie, based on the life and valour of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, also surpassed Gadar 2 to take the tenth spot in the list of highest-grossing films in India.
Pathaan, meanwhile, minted ₹543.09 in India in 2023. Chhaava needs around ₹8 crore more to become the ninth highest-grossing film in India.
Vicky was aware of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s story before Laxman Utekar narrated it to him
Chhaava, directed by Laxman Utekar who worked with Vicky Kaushal on the comedy film Zara Hatke, Zara Bachke, is the actor’s third biographical film after Sardar Udham and Sam Bahadur. Vicky said as someone growing up in Mumbai, he was aware of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s story.
“It was there in the history books but you don’t actually understand the emotional gravitas of it. I got to know the story in more detail from Laxman sir, I felt ‘Wow, this is an important story to tell’," the actor shared.
