Pankaj Tripathi reveals he read extensively on Atal Bihari Vajpayee for his upcoming biopic

Pankaj Tripathi is all set to essay the character of former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, in the upcoming film Main Atal Hoon scheduled to release on January 19 2024. The firm’s trailer was released today, December 20 and the lead actor spoke to the media regarding his upcoming venture. He recalled taking almost two hours to get the prosthetics right in order to look the part. 

Pankaj Tripathi talks about getting into the role of Atal Bihari Vajpayee 

Pankaj Tripathi, who's all set to be seen playing the role of Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the biopic Main Atal Hoon, says that he has read so much about the former prime minister that he can now write a book on him. He was speaking to the media in Mumbai at the trailer launch of the film, which is scheduled for release on January 19, 2024. Talking about his role, Tripathi said, "We have tried to showcase those moments of his life in the film which are not known to the public and which are not available on any public platform. I have read so much about him that I can write a book on him and it will be bigger than this film. I have seen all his interviews, read so much about him that I have understood his persona."

On the use of prosthetics to get his look right, Tripathi said, “It used to take two hours daily. We shot this film in May and June when it was scorching hot. And it was really difficult to shoot after donning that look. I have literally shed my blood and sweat for this film.”

Pankaj Tripathi says he will ‘always cherish’ the journey of Main Atal Hoon 

On July 15,  Pankaj Tripathi announced the wrap-up of the final schedule of the much-awaited film Main Atal Hoon. Helmed by National Award-winning director Ravi Jadhav, Main Atal Hoon features Pankaj as Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the three-time Prime Minister of India. During the Lucknow shooting schedule, the film's makers met the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, and discussed the film at length.

The film wrapped up its final schedule in Mumbai on July 15. The film was shot in 45 days across locations in Mumbai, Delhi, Kanpur, and Lucknow and promises to take the viewers through Atal Bihari Vajpayee's childhood and extraordinary political journey. Pankaj took to social media, and shared a video wherein we can see BTS clips from the shoot of the movie, and a glimpse of the actor as Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He captioned the post in Hindi: "This 'Atal' journey will always be remembered and cherished. I feel lucky to portray the illustrious personality of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji on the big screen." Filmmaker Ravi commented on Pankaj's post and wrote: "Amazing Days. Amazing Memories. Working with you is always a great pleasure @pankajtripathi Ji."
