Randeep Hooda Lost 30 Kg For Role In Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, Reveals Politician's Grandson

Randeep Hooda and Ankita Lokhande starrer Swatantrya Veer Savarkar is slated to release this week. The film, which marks the directorial debut of Hooda, is based on the life journey of Indian freedom fighter and reformer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. As the release date is nearing, Ranjit Savarkar, the grandson of the activist, spoke highly of Hooda and shed light on his dedication to portraying the character of Veer Savarkar perfectly.

In an interview with ANI, Ranjit shared his thoughts on how Randeep portrayed his grandfather in the upcoming biopic. Lauding the efforts of the actor, he said, "I had discussions with Randeep Hooda several times. He has made this film with so much effort, he reduced 30 kg weight.”

Adding to it, he opined that movie is a medium through which history can be taken towards the new generation. He hopes more movies are made about other revolutionaries.
 

How did Randeep Hooda prepare for his role?

Earlier, Randeep, in a conversation with Republic, revealed his "biggest preparation" for the role and said that he read a lot of books in Hindi and English. He asked his Marathi friends to explain him properly as some translations are not good. Not just this, he also lost weight to look like Veer Savarkar when he was in jail and revealed that most of the time, he was starving.
