'Not Involved In Day-to-Day Operation': Ekta Kapoor Issues Statement Amid POCSO Charges

Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor, who have been booked under the POCSO Act for ALT Balaji's web series Gandi Baat, refuted the claims. They have shared an official statement on ALTBalaji's official Instagram page clarifying that Shobha and Ekta (Producers) are "not involved in day to day" operations of the company.

The official statement reads, "With reference to various media reports regarding the web series Gandhi Baat, ALT Digital Media Entertainment LTD. (Company) hereby clarifies that it is fully compliant with all applicable laws including the POCSO Act and any reference to engagement of minors by the company is entirely incorrect."
The statement further clarified that the mother-daughter duo is not involved in the day-to-day operations of the company and the same is managed by separate teams. "The company has complete faith in the judiciary and is fully co-operating with the authorities in the investigation. Since the matter is sub-judice, the company refrains from commenting in detail," the statement concludes.
Ekta Kapoor and Sobha Kapoor were accused of showing inappropriate scenes involving minor girls
According to a report by news agency ANI, the mother-daughter duo have been alleged to have shown inappropriate scenes involving minor girls in an episode of the Gandi Baat Season 6 streaming on Alt Balaji. According to Mumbai Police, a case has been registered against Balaji Telefilm Limited, Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor at MHB police station in Mumbai under sections 295-A of IPC, IT Act and sections 13 and 15 of POCSO Act. In the complaint, it is written that this series, which streamed on Alt Balaji between February 2021 and April 2021, showed obscene scenes of minor girls. However, this controversial episode is not currently streaming on this app.
