House Arrest Controversy: Ajaz Khan Booked By Mumbai Police For 'Sex Position' Scene

Ullu App has taken down the show, House Arrest. As per the complaint, it contained obscene language, and the acts performed insulted the modesty of a woman.

Ajaz Khan has fallen into hot water after his show House Arrest on Ullu App attracted controversy. The host, among others, has been booked by the Mumbai police over the same. A case has been registered against them under Section 296, 3 (5) of BNS, Section 67 67 (A) of the Technology Act and Sections 4,6, and 7 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has lodged the FIR. Soon after the controversy erupted, Ullu App took down the show from the platform.

According to the complaint, the controversial show contained acts that insulted the modesty of women.

NCW summons Ajaz Khan and Ullu App CEO

On Friday, the National Commission for Women (NCW) summoned Ajaz Khan and the CEO of Ullu, Vibu Agarwal, for the "coercive" and "vulgar" content shown on the show, House Arrest. Taking to its official X handle, NCW shared a post that reads, "NCW takes suo motu cognisance of obscene content on Ullu App's show House Arrest. Viral clips show women being coerced into intimate acts on camera. NCW slams the platform for promoting vulgarity and violating consent. CEO and host summoned on May 9."

The development came after an obscene video went viral on the internet, inviting widespread backlash.

All about House Arrest

The show went on air on Ullu on April 11, featuring 12 contestants - nine women and three men - confined in a luxury villa and asked to perform a series of "vulgar" tasks.

Last month, the Supreme Court issued notice to the Centre, OTT and social media platforms on a PIL seeking direction to take appropriate action against the streaming of obscene content. A bench of Justices BR Gavai and AG Masih sought a response from Netflix, Amazon Prime, Alt Balaji, Ullu, ALTT, X (formerly Twitter), Meta Inc., Apple and others on the PIL seeking regulation of obscene content.
