Zendaya eyes Mike Faist, Josh O’Connor in Challengers first poster

After multiple delays, Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers is now scheduled to debut in theatres in April 2024. Ahead of its release, the makers unveiled the first poster of the film on Tuesday, January 2. It featured the lead actress Zendaya with a glimpse of the other two stars, Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor.

Zendaya took to her Instagram handle and shared the poster, which showed a close-up of her face. She was seen wearing reflective sunglasses, which featured Mike and Josh on each side, playing tennis on the field. Sharing the image, Zendaya penned, “Challengers April 26th. Wishing you all the most beautiful new year.” 

What do we know about Challengers?

Zendaya plays Tashi Duncan in Challengers. She is a force to be reckoned with—a former tennis prodigy turned coach who never backs down from a challenge, both on and off the court. Married to a losing champion (Mike Faist from West Side Story), Tashi's plan for her husband's redemption takes an unexpected turn when he has to compete against the disgraced Patrick (Josh O'Connor from The Crown), who used to be both Tashi's ex-boyfriend and best friend. 

Tashi must face her past and consider the price of victory as the two men in her life compete against one another, both on and off the court.

Pro tennis coach and former player Brad Gilbert trained Zendaya for her role in Challengers. He also serves as a consultant on the film. Alongside director Guadagnino, the movie has Bernard Bellew, Kevin Ulrich, and Spider-Man: No Way Home producer Amy Pascal as producers. The MGM production, Challengers will have its theatrical debut on April 26.
