Kushi Box Office Collection Day 1: Samantha gets career best opening

Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu's latest film Kushi opened to a good start at the box office. It has become Samantha's biggest career opener after it collected ₹16 crore on its opening day, September 1. Not just for Samantha, but the film also proved to be a turning point for Vijay's career as his previous films were unsuccessful at the box office.

Vijay's Liger garnered criticism and failed at the box office, while Samantha's films in the last four years did not earn more than ₹10 crore. Seems like Kushi has turned the tide for its leading stars.

Kushi gets a good start at the box office

Samnatha and Vijay Deverakonda starrer Kushi performed well on its opening day after the lead stars' respective box office debacles, Shaakuntalaam and Liger. On Friday, the film registered an overall occupancy rate of 59.13% for the Telugu version. The morning shows witnessed 48.45% occupancy, which climbed to 54.12% for the afternoon shows.

The evening shows registered 59.81% occupancy and the night screenings showed an upward trend with an occupancy of 74.13%, according to Sacnilk.

Kushi success is special for Samantha as it is her career-best opener. It beat Majili (2019) which collected ₹8.16 crore on its opening day. 

Vijay Deverakonda pens emotional note on Kushi success

Vijay Deverakonda expressed gratitude to the audience after his film Kushi was released in theatres and received a positive response. Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), the actor shared a teary-eyed emoji and wrote, "You all waited for 5 years, with me Patiently waiting for me to do my thing! We did it. Today!! :)"

Vijay further expressed how he has been ‘tearing up’ over the overwhelming response he received for the movie. The Liger actor urged his fans to watch Kushi along with their family and friends.
