Kaathal The Core box office collection day 4: Mammootty, Jyothika starrer earns ₹1.80 crore

Mammootty starrer Kaathal: The Core seems unstoppable at the box office. The film shows the Malayalam superstar in a new light - a homosexual - and narrates the story of his character Mathew and his haunting past. It marks the first collaboration between Mammootty and director Joe Baby.

The film has been recording a rise in the numbers every day at the box office. On the fourth day of the release, the film earned ₹1.80 crore in India, as per the early estimates reported by Sacnilk. Hence, taking the total collection to ₹5.70  crore. On Sunday, the film witnessed an occupancy of 33.18 per cent during morning screenings, which then gained momentum by afternoon - 48.03 per cent. The evening shows peaked at 62.25 per cent but witnessed a fall during night screenings - 45.93 per cent.

Kaathal: The Core makers open up about the success of the film

After seeing the positive response, the official production house Mammootty Kampany thanked the audience. The post read, "#KaathalTheCore takes Sunday by storm at the box office! Sensational Thank you all."

Adarsh Sukumaran opens up about Mammootty's being part of the film

Adarsh Sukumaran, the writer of the film, revealed Mammootty's decision to be a part of the film. He said that it was no surprise to him that the superstar chose this film. “Because he is not an actor who prefers to stay in the safe zone. He is someone who breaks the image. Though he has done over 450 films, you would never have seen him like how he is in this movie."
