Nagarjuna starrer Naa Saami Ranga to clash with Mahesh Babu's Guntur Kaaram on Sankranthi

Nagarjuna starrer Naa Saami Ranga has an official release date now. The film, produced by Srinivasaa Chitturi is scheduled for a Sakranti release, in January 2024. The film is slated to clash with Mahesh Babu starrer Guntur Kaaram, which is directed by Trivikram Srinivas.

Nagarjuna's film title has a connection with his father

Earlier today, Srinivasa Silver Screen took to their social media handle to share an official announcement about Naa Saami Ranga on Nagarjuna's birthday. They released the first look of the The Ghost actor in the film along with a teaser.

The teaser comprises a slow and stylish build-up to reveal Nagarjuna's character, a fearless ruffian. As someone asks his name, the frame slowly focusses on a board with 'King' written over it. The teaser ends with Nagarjuna's character lighting his cigarette with sparks from a broken light bulb before saying, "On this festival, it will be.. Naa Saami Ranga!"

The film’s title Naa Saami Ranga is a throwback to a popular song from the film Sipayi Chinnaya, which starred Nagarjuna’s father and screen legend A Nageswara Rao. The film was earlier tentatively titled Galata.

Earlier, it was reported that Kajal Aggarwal will feature as the female lead in Naa Saami Ranga. Another prominent name attached to the film is Academy Award winner MM Keeravaani. Incidentally, the Naatu Naatu composer had scored for Nagarjuna’s Hindi film debut Criminal, 28 years ago. 

Vijay Banni makes his directorial debut

The script of Naa Saami Ranga is penned by Prasanna Kumar Bezawada, while choreographer Vijay Binni is making his directorial debut. Vijay Binni has been a part of the Telugu film industry for the past 10 years now and has choreographed songs for over 50 films, including films like Jersey and Kirik Party.

Nagarjuna was last seen in the 2022 film The Ghost, where he starred opposite Sonal Chauhan. Besides Naa Saami Ranga, he will reportedly be seen alongside Dhanush in filmmaker Sekhar Kammula's multi-starrer pan-India film.
