In a new interview, she opens up about how she would have liked to play the part differently. Sobhita shared that most people believe that she is similar to the character she plays in the series, which according to her is a misconception she would like to bust.

3 things you need to know

Sobhita says she would have liked to play role of Tara differently

In an interview with Film Companion, Sobhita Dhulipala clarified that she is “world’s apart” from Tara, her character in the Made in Heaven series. “I am emotional, I am messy, I am expressive,” she says. She presents Tara’s personality as a contrast and explains that Tara is cold, distant and horrid. Sobhita also revealed that she would have liked to play the part ‘differently’ and maybe that would have changed people’s perception of her.

Elaborating on her idea of what her Made in Heaven character would be like she said, “It would be interesting to depict the same Tara in identical circumstances and with the same inner landscape, but different disposition. What if she was snappy and snarky?  What if she was loud as opposed to cold?“

Sobhita Dhulipala emphasises she is nothing like Tara Khanna

Sobhita reiterated that people began to equate the actor with the role she was playing because the character of Tara was so ‘well written’ and because director Zoya Akhtar gave her an exact brief of what she wanted to bring out from the character,. She said, “It’s easy for me to look cold, leading to assumptions that I didn’t do any acting and merely played myself on-screen.” The Night Manager actor argued that if she played the role differently, maybe it would “alter” people’s perception of her. She concluded by clarifying, “I want to emphasize that I am not a psycho b****.”
