Vijay Sethupathi is currently gearing up for his upcoming film titled Merry Christmas. The actor will be seen sharing screen space with Katrina Kaif in the film helmed by Sriram Raghavan. Recently, during an interview with Pinkvilla, the actor revealed that he always wanted to be a daily soap artist.

Did Vijay Sethupathi wish to be a daily soap artist?

During the interview, Vijay Sethupathi was asked about the challenges of stardom. Responding to the question, he said, "Doing nothing. Seriously, just be there and observe people around, what all happen…listen! Listening is the greatest form that clears everything. So I don’t do anything."

He further added, "I just came to cinema, I wanted to be a serial artist and then became a hero in the film and then everything it happened, maybe I don’t take life that serious. I’m just the flow." Sethupathi continued, “When you have a target and you want to achieve something, it’s like already chalna bahut mushkil hai to upar aur zyada vazan rahega aur bhi mushkil ho jaayega (you have a long journey to cover and with mental pressure it will become even more difficult).” "Just you go. It's nice. You may cross deserts, mountains, seas-everything. It's an experience," Vijay added.

Sriram Raghavan is all set for the January 2024 release of his next film Merry Christmas starring Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi. "I had met Katrina casually after Andhadhun and we were discussing doing something together," Raghavan said. "I had a story and when she listened to it, she really liked it and asked me who the guy was. “At that time I had some other actor in my mind. I had spoken to Saif Ali Khan and he liked the story, but then I had to say 'no' to him. I wanted a unique pairing. That is the story requirement.” “I did not want any baggage from either of them. I wanted to have someone fresh who has not done any work with Katrina. Soon after, I was going to Melbourne for a film festival and on my way there, I watched the film '96' of Vijay. I also met him there and asked him if he spoke Hindi. He told me he had worked in Dubai for three years. This is how this oddball combination came about. It got me excited to work on this film.” The film is scheduled to release in theatres on January 12, 2024.
