Kanguva Trolling: Suriya's Wife Jyotika Calls Film Sound 'Jarring' As She Addresses Negative Reviews
Jyotika penned a long note calling Kanguva a "spectavle in cinema" and defended her husband Suriya's movie by saying "flaws are a part of most Indian films."
Suriya starrer Kanguva has been in the news since the movie hit the theatres on November 14. The movie is receiving heavy criticism for its loud background score, plot and direction. The Kanguva producers were quick to admit the mistake of a technical issue and got it fixed in no time. Now, Suriya's wife Jyotika has also addressed the sound issue. But she also reacted to the negative reviews and trolling of the movie.
On Sunday, she took to her Instagram handle and penned a long note calling Kanguva a "spectavle in cinema" and expressed that she is "proud" of her husband for the dream to take cinema forward. She also defended her husband's movie by saying "flaws are a part of most Indian films."
Jyotika defends husband Suriya for creating a technical error in Kanguva
In the first half of her note, she addressed the loud BGM of Kanguva and wrote, "Definitely the first 1/2 hr doesn’t work n the sound is jarring!" However, she defended it by saying "Flaws are a part of most Iindian films, so that’s only fair, especially in this kind of a film wherein one experiments largely! N it’s just the first 1/2 hr from the whole 3 hrs. But to be true, it’s an absolute cinematic experience! Camera work n execution never before seen in Tamizh cinema."
Jyotika slams trolls for surfacing Kanguva's negative reviews on Internet
She expressed her shock on reading the negative reviews about the movie and slammed for not doing the same to the "most unintellectual big budget films" that objectify women, and have double-meaning dialogues and over-the-top action sequences. She encouraged them to focus on the positive aspects of the movie. "N what about Kanguva's positives? The women action sequence in 2nd half and the young boy's love and betrayal for Kanguva? I think they forgot about the good parts while reviewing. Now this Makes me wonder largely whether one should ever read, listen or believe them after all!"
She further wrote, "It’s sad that they chose this much negativity for Kanguva on day 1, even before the first show was over (seemed more like multiple group propagandas) when it actually deserves an applause for the concept and effort taken by the team to create 3D and such a magnificent visual!" She concluded her note by writing, "Be proud Team Kanguva, as the ones commenting negative r doing just that and nothing else to their credit to uplift cinema!"
What is the budget of Kanguva?
The movie is made on a reported budget of ₹350 crore. It features epic battle scenes and grand visuals, with the story spanning 1,500 years into the past. Apart from Suriya, it also stars Bobby Deol, Disha Patani and Yogi Babu in the pivotal roles.
