After Ajith Kumar and Kamal Haasan, now Nayanthara has appealed to her fans and media to henceforth address her as just Nayanthara and not as Lady Superstar. She issued a statement late Tuesday night thanking her fans for crowning her with "such a valuable title" but she would prefer to be addressed as Nayanthara. The actress' journey to the top was no less than a roller coaster ride. However, she eventually became a dominant force in the Tamil film industry.

Nayanthara urges fans not to refer to her as Lady Superstar

Taking to her X, she shared a letter wherein she thanked her fans and urged them to refer to her as Nayanthara and not use Lady Superstar as a prefix. She started her letter by writing, “While thanking all my sources of happiness and success for my journey as an actress, I sincerely hope this note finds you and your families in the best of health and happiness."

“My life has been an open book that has always found its adornment with your unconditional love and affection. Be it the pat on my shoulder during my success or extending your hand to lift me during hardships, you have always been there for me,” she continued.

Pointing out that many had graciously referred to her as "Lady Superstar," a title born out of their immense affection, she added, “I owe you all a lot for crowning me with such a valuable title. However, I humbly request you all to call me ‘Nayanthara’. This is because I feel that the name is what I hold closest to my heart. It represents who I am—not just as an actor but as an individual.”

She further pointed out that while titles and accolades were priceless they could also sometimes create an image that separated the stars from their work, their craft, and the unconditional bond they shared with the audience. “I believe we all share the language of love that keeps us connected beyond all limits. While the future might be unpredictable for all of us, I’m so happy that your unfading support will remain constant, and so will my hard work to entertain you. Cinema is what keeps us united, and let us keep celebrating it together,” she signed off.

Nayanthara is an unstoppable force in the world of cinema

Nayanthara made her acting debut with the Malayalam film Manassinakkare (2003). She made her debut in Tamil cinema with Ayya (2005), in Telugu with Lakshmi (2006) and in Kannada with Super (2010). In a span of 2 decades, she has starred in 75 films, including Jawan, Billa, Chandramukhi, Viswasam, Anaamika and Aramm. However, she announced her retirement at the peak of her career, owing to personal reasons. However, it was Nagarjuna Akkineni who brought her back to big screens from her slumber and since then, there has been no looking back.

On the work front, she will be next seen in Rakkayie and the power-pack teaser of the movie has already been unveiled offering a glimpse of Nayanthara's fierce character.
