Rajinikanth celebrated his 73rd birthday on Tuesday (December 12). On the special occasion, a throwback picture of the superstar went viral on social media. The photo was from his 71st birthday celebration.

Wishes poured in from celebrities, production houses, and fans, expressing admiration and love for the legendary actor. Notable among them was Dhanush, Rajinikanth's ex-son-in-law and actor, who was among the first to extend birthday greetings. Dhanush posted on social media, "Happy birthday Thalaiva @rajinikanth," accompanied by folded-hands and heart emojis. Other celebrities including Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Raghava Lawrence also shared heartfelt wishes for Thalaivar.

Rajinikanth's professional life

Professionally, Rajinikanth had a great year. His action-comedy Jailor emerged as the highest-grossing Tamil film of the year, securing the fifth position among the top-grossing Indian movies in 2023. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film achieved a remarkable lifetime collection ranging between Rs 650-720 crore.

He will next be seen in Thalaivar 170 which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Manju Warrier, Fahadh Faasil, and Telugu star Rana Daggubati in pivotal roles. Directed by TJ Gnanavel, the film also includes Ritika Singh and Dushara Vijaya in significant roles. 

Fans worship Rajinikanth in his temple

A fan named Karthik recently converted a part of his home space into a shrine where he also installed the actor's statue. As per Karthik, Rajinikanth's idol weighs 250 kg. "For us, Rajinikanth is God. I have built a temple for him as a mark of respect," he had told ANI.
