Jay Soni talks about his exit from Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai: I was very disappointed

One of Indian television's longest-running shows, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, is all set to embark on a new journey with a generation leap. The upcoming leap promises a fresh start with new leads and an exciting narrative that will keep fans eagerly glued to their screens. In a recent plot twist, Jay Soni, who played the role of Abhinav made an exit from the show.

Abhinav's exit came as a shock to fans, as he was framed for a major incident in the show, ultimately leading to his character's departure. In a conversation with Siddharth Kanan, Jay Soni revealed the emotional aftermath of leaving the show.

'I was very disappointed'

Jay Soni expressed his disappointment about the exit from the show, explaining that it's rare for actors to miss the characters they portray. He said that his character offered him the opportunity to experience different moods each day which made it an exciting role to play. Despite the disappointment, Jay Soni said that he acknowledged that the storyline was crafted for the betterment of the show.

"Yes, I was very disappointed. But afsos karne ke alawa aur kar bhi kya sakte hai. Having worked in this industry for so long, it is very rare to miss the character that you play, and I missed playing Abhinav in front of the camera. This character had a different mood each day, and it was exciting to portray the same. When I was told about the exit track, I was disappointed, and I couldn't sleep that night," he said.

What do we know more about Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai?

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (2009) began with Hina Khan and Karan Mehra playing Akshara and Naitik. The legacy continued with Shivangi Joshi and Mohsin Khan portraying Naira and Kartik. The third generation witnessed the dynamic duo of Pranali Rathod and Harshad Chopda as Akshara and Abhimanyu.

With the leap, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is introducing a fresh cast to carry the legacy forward. Lead actors Harshad Chopda and Pranali Rathod, who portrayed Abhimanyu and Akshara respectively, are bidding adieu to the show, making way for new faces. Samridhii Shukla and Shehzada Dhami are set to take over as the leads. Samridhii Shukla's character, Abhira, will be the daughter of Abhinav and Akshara.  Actress Preeti Amin has been roped in to portray the older Akshara. The show will also welcome actors Shruti Rawat, Shruti Ulfat, and Sandeep Rajora into the fold post-leap.
