Vijay Antony's daughter dies at 16 - Jayam Ravi, Lokesh Kanagaraj offer condolences

Tamil actor and music composer Vijay Antony's daughter Meera allegedly died by suicide early Tuesday, September 19. The 16-year-old was found hanging in her Teynampet residence in Chennai. She was was rushed to a city hospital where she was declared brought dead by the doctors.

Jayam Ravi, Venkat Prabhu, R Sarathkumar, Lokesh Kanagaraj and Raghava Lawrence took to their social media handles to offer condolences to the grieving family.

Celebs react to Vijay Antony's daughter's demise

Meera died in the wee hours of Tuesday. She was allegedly under stress and dealing with depression. It is reported that the 16-year-old was receiving treatment for her condition. Soon after the news of her death was reported, Ponniyin Selvan star Jayam Ravi took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle and expressed his disbelief. He also urged his kids to share their feelings with their parents. 

He wrote, "It’s heartbreaking to hear about the loss of your daughter @vijayantony brother. To all the children out there, please know that you are cherished, valued, and never alone. We are living only for your happiness and love. Life is full of ups and downs, and you have the power to overcome the challenges...Whatever share to parents we're there to face for you RIP Meera (sic)."

Leo director Lokesh Kanagaraj wrote, "Heartbroken to hear the news about your loss @vijayantony brother. More strength to you and your family to get through this loss."

Chandramukhi 2 star Raghava Lawrence offered his condolence on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, "I am deeply saddened by loss of your daughter , May her souls rest in peace. My heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you @vijayantony sir.. I pray Raghavendra swamy to give more strength to you and your family in this tough times (sic)."

Reacting to her demise, veteran actor R Sarathkumar said, the news of the untimely and unfortunate demise of the daughter of @vijayantony and Fatima is shocking beyond imagination. "No amount of consoling and condolences can replace the everlasting grief of Vijay Antony and Fatima," he wrote.

Actor and director RJ Balaji, in his post, wrote, "Shocked to hear that Vijay Antony sir’s daughter committed suicide. Losing a child, it deeply hurts. No words can express the pain and grief. My deepest condolences to him and his family (sic)."

Director Venkat Prabhu, in his post on X (formerly Twitter), wrote, "Woke up to this shocking news! Deepest condolences Vijay Antony Saar and family. RIP Meera (sic)."

Thinu director Gautham Karthik prayed for the departed soul and wrote, "My deepest condolences to brother Vijay Antony and his family... Truly shocking to hear this... I pray that God gives your family strength during this time. I'm so sorry for your loss. May she rest in peace... #RIP.

Police begin investigation 

A case of unnatural death was registered and an investigation is on, the police said. Reportedly, a postmortem is being conducted and the teenager's mortal remains are likely to be brought home at noon today, September 19.
