Vijay Deverakonda paired up with Samantha Ruth Prabhu for Kushi. It’s his first appearance on the silver screen since the release of his 2022 flick Liger. The Puri Jagannadh directorial boasted a budget upwards of Rs 100 crore approx and featured a promising cast consisting of others such as Ananya Panday, Chunky Panday, Ramya Krishnan and Makarand Deshpande. However, it turned out to be a flop. Now that Kushi is warming up to a positive reception from the audience on Twitter, Deverakonda took to Twitter to pen a heartfelt note.

3 things you need to know:

Samantha Ruth Prabhu to get her thunder back with Kushi?

Samantha Ruth Prabhu was last seen on the big screen in Shaakuntalam. The film, which was directed and produced by Gunasekhar, turned out to be a commercial and critical flop. Against a budget of Rs 65 crore, it only made Rs 20 crore. While speaking with Republic Digital about what the success or failure of Kushi might mean, trade analyst Akshaye Rathi called Samantha a ‘true blue star,’ and asserted that one flop does not make or break the career of someone like Samantha.

“There’s no doubt about the fact that she will excel. If she goes back to doing action roles, she will excel in it too because true-blue superstars are genre-agnostic. Stardom really is genre-agnostic. True blue stars deliver across the genres and I’m sure that’s the case with Samantha as well,” Rathi said.

Notably, Samantha gained pan-India popularity with The Family Man 2. Furthermore, she performed on the wildly famed dance number Oo Antava on the Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa, which further gave rise to her nationwide recognition.
