In the recent viral Instagram video shared by dystopiacape, Jaya Bachchan conversed with designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, where she openly discussed her role as a mother-in-law. It is the old interview clip where Jaya spoke about the dynamics of her relationship with Aishwarya, highlighting the difference between a daughter and a daughter-in-law.

When asked if she was strict with Aishwarya after her marriage to Abhishek, Jaya clarified that she saw her as a daughter-in-law rather than a daughter. She pointed out that she had no reason to be strict, as Aishwarya's own mother would have handled that.

Jaya shared: “Strict? She's not my daughter! She's my daughter-in-law. Why should I be strict with her? I'm sure her mother has done that for her.”

Jaya further explained that there is a noticeable difference between being a daughter and a daughter-in-law. She noted that while a daughter might take her parents for granted, a daughter-in-law has different expectations and responsibilities, emphasising the distinct nature of these familial roles.

Jaya Bachchan shared, “There is a difference between a daughter and a daughter-in-law, you know. I mean, I don't know why, but you don't feel you don't need to respect your parents. As a daughter, you take your parents for granted. With your in-laws, you can't do that.”
