Chandigarh: Fifteen patients at the Civil Hospital in Sangrur suffered mild reactions after being administered intravenous glucose, leading health authorities to withdraw the stock of a particular batch of medicines across Punjab. Ruling AAP MLA Narinder Kaur Bharaj visited the hospital to check on the affected patients and assess the situation.

"I reached the Civil Hospital-Sangrur after I received the news that there was some reaction after the women patients were given IV fluid post-delivery. I enquired about their well-being and I also met a team of doctors," Bharaj told reporters.

Health Minister Confirmed Patients Were Stable

Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh reassured the public that the patients were in stable condition and that immediate action had been taken.

"Mild reactions were reported today in Sangrur after the use of Glucose IV Fluid. Immediate action has been taken. All stocks have been withdrawn from Punjab," he said in a post on X.

Samples Sent for Urgent Testing

Authorities sent samples of the IV fluid for urgent testing to determine the cause of the reactions. The minister assured that strict action would be taken if any negligence was found.

"There is no need to panic. Our medical experts are closely monitoring the situation. All patients who experienced this reaction are fine. Your health is our top priority," Singh added.

Swift Action Taken by Health Authorities

Following the incident, health officials removed all IV fluid stocks from the affected batch across the state. Medical teams continued to monitor the condition of the affected patients to ensure their full recovery.

The Punjab government assured the public that further investigations would be conducted to prevent such incidents in the future.
