4 Tourists Killed As Cruise Boat Sinks In Narmada River In Jabalpur, Rescue Operations Underway | Image: Republic

Jabalpur: At least four people, including three women, were killed on Thursday evening after a cruise both carrying around 30 people on board sank in Narmada River's Bargi dam area of Madhya Pradesh, Jabalpur. Rescue operations are presently underway.

According to reports, the mishap took place due to overloading.

Jabalpur Collector Raghvendra Singh has said that as of now, 15 people have been rescued and SDRF teams are trying to search for 12 more people.

Madhya Pradesh Minister Rakesh Singh said, “The incident occurred around 6.15 pm. About 29 people were onboard the cruise. After the incident, about 15 people were rescued. Four bodies have been recovered. Search is underway for the remaining people. SDRF, District Police and the entire administration is here. Operations are underway to locate the missing people.”

He added, "Once the missing people are found, this will be investigated."
