Assam couple admitted to hospital after developing coronavirus-like symptoms

A couple arriving from Chennai was on Monday admitted to a hospital in Nalbari (Assam) after showing symptoms of novel coronavirus.

According to senior officials, the couple from Bongaon village in Nalbari district arrived from Chennai on Sunday and complained of fever, cough and headache.

"Today they were admitted to the isolation ward of Swahid Mukunda Kakati Civil Hospital. The doctors attending have kept the two in close observation," an official said.

The blood samples of the couple have been sent for examination, he added. Assam has not reported any positive coronavirus case yet, a minister said earlier in the day.
