Bihar And Uttar Pradesh Saving The Nation Today By Having More Children: Chandrababu Naidu

New Delhi: Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are saving the nation today by having more children, said Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu as he emphasized on need to focus on population management in the country. Addressing Republic Plenary Summit on the theme ‘Limitless India’, Naidu said that India's advantage in terms of the population is only till 2047 and there is a need to plan beyond that. India at present is the youngest nation in the world with majority – approx 65 per cent – of its population being below the age of 35.

Population management is very important for India. We are watching that Japan and Europe's population is declining and India is having an advantage of its population only up to 2047. The India population is an advantage as 65 per cent of them are under the age of 35 years, no other country is having this advantage, however, South India implemented early family planning and now population is falling, so the time has come to correct it and stabilise population, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister said.

Chandrababu Naidu said that earlier in order to control population he introduced a policy that if you (citizens) have two or more children then you would not be eligible for contesting the local body polls but now he has changed it to if you are having less than two children then you want be able to contest local body polls.

“We are giving more money (incentive) to those who have more children, that is a thing but otherwise also even after sometime if you give incentive, people are not have more children, the reason is that wealth and population are conflicting. I used to say 20 years ago, two IT professionals both husband and wife having double income don't want to have kids and just enjoying life… if everybody will do the same thing then there is no population on the earth and today its the reality,” the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister added.

Chandrababu Naidu appealed to the people to have more children saying those who are more intellectual and wealthy have less children.  They think about having one child is very difficult to nurture, so its better to have one more industry but there is no replacement to this (population management) and all of us have to talk about it openly.
