New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reaffirmed her commitment to fulfilling all promises made by the BJP -led government in the national capital. Addressing an event on International Women’s Day, she emphasized the administration’s focus on women’s welfare and security. She stated that the government would work to enhance safety measures for women and ensure the delivery of all promised initiatives.

Speaking at the Women Power for Viksit Bharat 2047 event, she spoke about the government’s efforts in supporting women, including the construction of pint toilets across Delhi and the launch of new welfare schemes. She also praised the Narendra Modi government for approving 33% reservation for women and spoke about the progress of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao initiative, now moving into the next phase, Beti Badhao.

The Delhi government officially launched the Delhi Mahila Samriddhi Yojana on March 8, fulfilling a key electoral promise. The scheme aims to provide financial assistance of ₹2,500 per month to women from economically weaker sections. The registration process for the scheme began immediately, with an online portal being developed to facilitate applications.

Women applicants must meet certain criteria to qualify for the scheme. They must be between 21 and 60 years old, reside in Delhi, and have a family income of less than ₹3 lakh per annum. Government employees and beneficiaries of other financial aid programs are not eligible. The registration process requires documents such as Aadhaar card, ration card, address proof, and a registered mobile number.

To ensure efficient implementation, the government is integrating data from the Chief Electoral Officer and the Food and Civil Supplies Department for verification. Around 15-20 lakh women are expected to benefit from the scheme once the registration and verification process is complete.

The initiative is in line with similar schemes in BJP-governed states, including the Ladli Behna Yojana in Madhya Pradesh and the Ladki Bahin Yojana in Maharashtra . It was a key commitment in the BJP’s election manifesto for Delhi. The announcement was also raised in the Delhi Assembly, where BJP MLA Satish Sharma emphasized the government’s focus on women’s welfare.

With this initiative, CM Rekha Gupta aims to expand support for women across Delhi, reinforcing the BJP government’s commitment to their welfare and empowerment.
