Lucknow-Bound IndiGo Flight Receives Hoax Bomb Threat Minutes Before Takeoff From Delhi

New Delhi: An IndiGo flight scheduled to operate from Lucknow to Delhi was delayed on Friday after a security threat was reported shortly before take-off, prompting authorities to launch a full-scale security check and temporarily halt the aircraft's departure.

The aircraft was immediately taken off the runway and moved for security checks, triggering a swift response from airport authorities and security agencies.

Security teams rushed to the aircraft and began a comprehensive inspection of the plane, luggage and other onboard areas to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.

The incident temporarily disrupted the flight's scheduled departure as authorities followed standard security protocols.

Following the incident, IndiGo confirmed that a security threat was detected onboard Flight 6E 2111, which was scheduled to operate from Lucknow to Delhi on June 12.

"Shortly before take-off, a security threat was noticed onboard IndiGo flight 6E 2111 scheduled to operate from Lucknow to Delhi on 12 June 2026. Following the established protocol, we informed the relevant authorities immediately and are fully cooperating with them in carrying out the necessary security checks," the airline said.

The airline further stated that the aircraft would continue its journey to Delhi after obtaining the required security clearances.

"We regret the inconvenience caused to our customers and are making all efforts to minimise it, including offering them refreshments and timely updates. As always, safety and security of our customers, crew and aircraft are our topmost priorities," the statement added.

Tissue Paper With 'Bomb' Written on it Found Inside Lavatory

As per reports, the scare began after a tissue paper bearing the word "bomb" was allegedly discovered inside one of the aircraft's lavatories.

The note immediately triggered alarm among the crew, who informed security officials.

Following a thorough search of the aircraft, authorities confirmed that no explosive device, suspicious object or harmful substance was found onboard.

All necessary security procedures were nevertheless reportedly followed in accordance with aviation safety norms before the aircraft could be cleared for further operations.

Although the threat turned out to be false, authorities prioritised passenger safety and completed all mandatory security checks before allowing the flight to proceed.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine who left the message and whether any passenger or individual was responsible for triggering the false alarm.

The incident adds to a series of hoax bomb threats that have disrupted flight operations in recent months, forcing airlines and airports to activate emergency security measures despite no explosives being found.
