Congress Leader Compares CM Fadnavis To Aurangzeb, Calls Him 'Cruel'

New Delhi: Maharashtra Congress President Harshwardhan Sapkal on Sunday, compared Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis 's tenure to Aurangzeb Alamgir's rule, calling both of as "cruel."

Sapkal attacked Chief Minister Fadnavis, comparing him to the cruel ruler Aurangzeb. He said, "Aurangzeb was a cruel ruler, and Devendra Fadnavis is equally cruel. Both base their actions on religion." Sapkal further criticized the demand to remove Aurangzeb's grave, claiming that such actions aim to erase the history of Marathi people, including the legacy of Mavlas and Shivaji Maharaj.

He highlighted that Aurangzeb’s grave stands as a testament to history, representing the cruel tendencies of the ruler. "It is evident at that place that we bury a man with a cruel tendency," Sapkal added, pointing out that the grave serves as a reminder of the historical struggle and the cruelty associated with Aurangzeb.

Sapkal cited the murder of Santosh Deshmukh and women's safety concerns as evidence of CM Fadnavis's failure.

Harshvardhan Sapkal slammed the BJP , claiming that the party has many failures. He described the current government as a coalition of "gangs" coming together for the sake of power. "The gang of government is a game of prestige," he said, highlighting the dysfunction within the ruling party.

Sapkal also mentioned the difficulties faced in forming the Maha Vikas Aghadi in Maharashtra politics, accusing the BJP of destroying the goodwill of the state. He pointed out that the return of "Khokya" and the emergence of a "new Khokya" were signs of the BJP’s negative influence.

He then turned his attention to the impact of the BJP's policies on Konkan, saying that the social health of the region was being harmed. He criticized the party for planning to sell the natural resources of Konkan to industrialists.
