'Cow And Cash': Unique Incentive By Andhra MP To Encourage Families To Have More Children

Amravati: A member of Parliament from Andhra Pradesh's Vizianagaram, Kalisetti Appala Naidu on Saturday offered Rs 50,000 each to women giving birth to a third child and a cow if she delivered a boy.

This comes after Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP President Chandrababu Naidu's continuous advocacy of incentives to families for having more children.

The Lok Sabha member from Telegu Desam Party said he would pay the cash incentive from his salary.

Leader's Hailing the Offer

Naidu's offer is going viral on social media, with TDP leaders and activists sharing it widely. According to them, women are hailing the offer as revolutionary.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also praised Appala Naidu for announcing the offer.

Naidu made the announcement at a meeting organized on the occasion of International Women's Day at Rajiv Sports compound in Vizianagaram.

Andhra CM Voices Concern Over Declining Population in South

Chief Minister Naidu, during his visit to Delhi in March, expressed concern over the declining population in South India, highlighting that its ageing demographic poses challenges, while states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar benefit from a younger population.

CM Naidu also highlighted the need for long-term demographic management rather than population control. He said, “I used to advocate family planning. Now I am changing my views and promoting the population now. India is one country with the biggest advantage in the demographic dividend. If we can manage demographic dividend for the future, India and Indians will be great.”

Chandrababu Naidu announced at a program in Markapur, Prakasam district, on International Women's Day that maternity leave will be granted to all women employees during childbirth, regardless of the number of children they have.
