Mumbai: The Mahadev betting app case accused Saurabh Chandrakar is now alleged to have actively participated in cricket match-fixing incidents in order to get profit through dubious means. An FIR was registered in connection with the matter on Tuesday.
RTI activist and the complainant in the case, Prakash Bankar, claimed that Chandrakar and his associates had rigged and chosen the outcomes of majority of the matches.
Dinesh Khambhat and Chander Agarwal, two of Chandrakar's close acquaintances who live in London, are reportedly in charge of the fixings and are recognised as important match-fixers in India.
According to sources cited by Bankar, it was discovered after a comprehensive investigation that accused Agarwal was a part of a cricket league and had participated directly or indirectly in match-fixing incidents in the past.
According to Bankar, accused Mohit Barman of Mumbai was linked with associates Dinesh Khambhat, Rohitkumar Murgai, and Gaurav Barman.
He said that they own direct equity in the league-playing associations and are actively involved in the cricket league.
They work together to manage and run the player booking system and a website and they are connected to the illegal practise of match-fixing in cricket matches, he added.
The complaint claimed that Chandrakar is the owner of around 1,200 branches, with each branch earning over Rs 2 lakh each day.
Altogether, the promoters make Rs 860 crore per month. It is claimed that he received a sizable share of the profit from syndicate members via hawala, and a sizable fraction of the earnings were exchanged for cryptocurrencies, he added.
Chandrakar is the creator of the Khiladi app, a subsidiary of the Mahadev betting app.
32 syndicate operators, situated in Chhattisgarh, Kolkata, and Mumbai, are also allegedly in charge of managing the whole betting industry, match-fixing, and converting millions of dollars into cryptocurrencies.
