New Delhi: Residents and commuters in parts of West Delhi should brace for fuel supply disruptions today until 11 pm. Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has announced a planned shutdown affecting CNG stations in areas around Dwarka and Aerocity. The 48-hour supply cut, which started at 11 pm on Friday, March 7, will continue until 11 pm on Sunday, March 9. This shutdown is being undertaken to facilitate the ongoing construction of the UER-2 Dwarka Expressway by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

Planned Shutdown to Shift Pipeline

According to IGL, the supply disruption is necessary as the company is relocating its steel pipeline in the affected areas. In a social media post, the gas supplier clarified that while CNG stations will face disruptions, domestic kitchens using Piped Natural Gas (PNG) will not be affected. However, commercial establishments in the impacted zones are expected to experience supply issues, and prior notifications have been sent to them.

They wrote on X, " Due to the ongoing NHAI construction of UER-2 Dwarka Expressway. In this process, a 48 hours planned shutdown is being taken over the coming weekend.
However, the supply of PNG to the domestic kitchens in the area would not be affected at all."

Low CNG Pressure in Adjoining Areas

Apart from West Delhi, adjoining parts of northwest and southwest Delhi may also experience reduced CNG pressure. While IGL has assured that efforts are being made to complete the work within the scheduled timeframe, vehicle owners relying on CNG are advised to plan their fuel refills accordingly.

Water Supply to Be Hit in Some Parts of Delhi

In a separate development, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has also issued an advisory regarding temporary water supply disruptions in several areas, including Rohini, Mangolpuri, Sultanpuri, and Janakpuri. While the main disruption is expected over the weekend, DJB has warned that water pressure in these localities could remain low on Monday and Tuesday as well.
