New Delhi: Hours-long power cuts hit several parts of South and West Delhi on Monday as BRPL undertakes maintenance and infrastructure upgrades. Residents have been advised to make necessary arrangements during the scheduled outage period.

As per the BRPL maintenance schedule, power supply will remain affected in the following areas:

  • Chhatarpur (11:00 AM to 1:00 PM): Maidan Garhi Village
  • Hauz Khas (11:00 AM to 12:30 PM): Pocket B, Katwaria Sarai
  • Punjabi Bagh (11:00 AM to 11:45 AM): Booster Pump, Punjabi Bagh
  • Palam (11:00 AM to 1:00 PM): Pocket 6, Sector 1, Nasirpur
  • Palam (11:00 AM to 3:00 PM): Block G Raj Nagar 2, Block F Raj Nagar Extension, Raj Nagar, Sector 9 Dwarka
  • Khanpur (11:00 AM to 12:00 PM): Tigri Colony, Tigri Sangam Vihar
  • Jaffarpur (10:00 AM to 12:00 PM): Rawta, Jaffarpur Kalan Village 

The power outages spark outrage from several residents, with many expressing frustration over electricity cuts lasting several hours during the daytime. 

One user stated, 'No electricity since 5 hours ago. 

Second wrote, 'More than 6 hours still no electricity…lol Pathetic power cut in Noida.’

Third commented, 'No power in Noida from 9:30 pm yesterday to 5:30 am today.

What should residents do during the outage?

Residents are advised to take precautions during the scheduled shutdown period.

Consumers should unplug sensitive electronic devices such as televisions, computers, microwave ovens and washing machines to prevent damage from possible voltage fluctuations when power is restored.

Those relying on inverters are advised to ensure batteries are fully charged beforehand. Residents should also avoid handling exposed electrical wires and immediately report any electricity-related emergency.

With maintenance work scheduled across several neighbourhoods, authorities have urged residents to plan their day accordingly and prepare for temporary interruptions in electricity supply.
