Didi Loses Her Cool: Video Shows 'Frustrated' Mamata Banerjee Slapping Her Own Party Worker On Road | WATCH

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief and former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee lost her cool and ended up slapping her own party worker during a protest organised by the party in Kalighat, Kolkata, on Wednesday.

A video of the incident showed Mamata Banerjee visibly frustrated as a massive chaos broke out during the protest, that had been organised by the ‘Kalighat Trinamool’ over the rape and murder of a 12-year-old girl in Baruipur, South 24 Parganas district. 

Mamata Banerjee was seen holding a megaphone and trying to bring her party workers under control.

A male party worker, who appeared to be helping Mamata by trying to manage the crowd, ended up at the receiving end of her frustration.

The video showed the man stretching his hands to keep violent protesters at bay and make way for Mamata. However, amidst the chaos, the former Chief Minister slapped him hard on the face and gestured him to move back.

Mamata was also seen slapping on the back of a man to control the mayhem. The incident took place near Mamata Banerjee's residence. 

Soon after the TMC started its protest, workers of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) reportedly blocked the procession and clashed with TMC workers. They were also heard raising “chor chor” (thief thief) slogans. The BJP workers allegedly also tried to force human barricades to stop TMC workers from continuing their march.

Mamata Banerjee also accused police of violating the High Court's order under which TMC had been given permission to hold the protest. 

Mamata said, “When High Court has given the permission, how do you allow the police? I am not blaming the BJP. I am blaming the police, the administration. You should have taken the moral responsibility so that peacefully we should have done the rally. But instead of that, what you have done? You allowed BJP people to set up 10 stage, dias, microphone. You smashed our hand mic, though High Court has given the permission for hand mic and have beaten our workers. They are not able to go to the hospital. They have beaten the women. They have beaten the boys, girls and senior persons.”

She added that TMC IT cell chairman was gheraod by BJP workers and was beaten. “That's why I went to the spot to rescue her. If it is going on, where is the law? Totally lawlessness is going on.”

“When police knows there is a high court order, how they violate the high court order, it will be contempt of court. They are not able to give protection for the peaceful people. Only they are doing the atrocities on our workers. We condemn it,” the TMC chief further said.
