During the press conference with Keir Starmer, Prime Minister Modi reassured a translator who was struggling to translate Starmer’s statements into Hindi, telling her not to worry and that they could use English words in between.
London: Prime Minister Narendra Modi relieved a Hindi translator during the joint press conference with British counterpart Keir Starmer who struggled while translating Keir Starmer's statements in Hindi.
During the joint press conference, Prime Minister Modi calmly told the translator, “Don’t bother, we can use English words in between… don’t worry about it.”
The translator, feeling slightly embarrassed, apologised for struggling to translate Starmer’s remarks. PM Modi responded, “No problem.”
"I think we understand each other well," says UK PM Keir Starmer adds.
As India-UK sign Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement, PM Narendra Modi in a joint presser with counterpart Keir Starmer said, “Along with this Agreement, we have also come to an agreement on Double Contributions Convention. This will benefit the service sectors of both countries, and especially provide a new energy to technology and finance. This will boost Ease of Doing Business. Cost of Doing Business will come down and Confidence of Doing Business will increase. UK's economy will get India's skilled talent. With these agreements, investment will increase in both countries and new opportunities for employment will be generated. Not just this, these agreements between two democratic nations and two large economies will strengthen global stability and prosperity."
“To provide a new speed and energy to our comprehensive strategic partnership in the next decade, Vision 2035 is being released. This will be a roadmap for a strong, trustworthy and ambitious partnership in the areas of technology, defence, climate, education and people-to-people connect,” said PM Modi.
Complementing India-UK cricketing ties, PM Modi said, “When India and UK meet, and that too during a Test Series, Cricket needs to be mentioned. For both of us, Cricket is not just a game but a passion, and also a great metaphor for our partnership. There may be a swing and a miss at times but we always play with a straight bat. We are committed to building a high-scoring, solid partnership. The Agreements signed today and Vision 2035 are milestones that will carry forward this spirit.”
On Defence ties with England, PM Modi mentioned, “For cooperation in defence and security, Defence Industrial Roadmap has been prepared. Work will be done to further strengthen our Technology Security initiative. It is our commitment that from AI to Critical Minerals, Semiconductors to Cyber Security, we shall create the future together.”
