Drug peddler held with 5.5 kg cannabis in Noida

A suspected drug peddler was arrested here after over five kg of cannabis was allegedly seized from his possession, police said on Monday.

The accused was held on Sunday night in Sector 121, under Phase 3 police station limits, they said.

Lakshman alias Bhapi, in his early 20s, is a local and has been booked nine times since 2015, a police spokesperson said.

"He was arrested Sunday night near the Cleo County roundabout after 5.5 kg of cannabis was recovered from his possession," the spokesperson said.

A fresh case under the Narcotics, Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 has been lodged against him at Phase 3 police station, the official added.
