A massive earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale struck Myanmar, causing widespread destruction to buildings and bridges. The tremors were felt across Manipur and several northeastern states of India.

So far, no loss of human life has been reported.

Myanmar Earthquake Triggers Strong Tremors in Thailand and India

The earthquake, which hit 10 kilometers from Mandalay, also caused strong tremors in Thailand’s capital, Bangkok, as well as in Manipur and the entire northeast region of India.

The powerful earthquake has caused extensive damage to public infrastructure, with visuals emerging of destroyed buildings and collapsed bridges.

One of the most striking visuals is the collapse of the iconic Ava Bridge over the Irrawaddy River in Mandalay. Panicked locals have shared videos of the devastation on social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter).
