Eknath Shinde Stranded at Airport After Pilot Refuses to Fly Post Duty Hours
Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde was delayed at Jalgaon airport for 45 minutes after the pilot refused to fly due to tiredness. The flight took off only after the pilot was cleared fit to fly.
Mumbai: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had to wait for nearly 45 minutes at Jalgaon airport. His flight to Mumbai was delayed after the pilot refused to fly, saying he was too tired and unfit to continue.
The pilot had already flown for more than 12 hours that day. Before take-off, he told the officials that he could not safely fly another trip due to exhaustion and health reasons.
Ministers Try to Convince the Pilot
Shinde had just finished a full-day tour of Jalgaon and arrived at the airport after visiting Muktainagar. As he prepared to leave, the pilot’s refusal led to confusion.
Shinde himself, along with ministers Girish Mahajan and Gulabrao Patil, tried to talk to the pilot and convince him. A closed-door discussion was held with the pilot and two other crew members in the waiting lounge.
Doctor Called to Check Pilot's Health
A doctor was called to examine the pilot’s health condition. After the medical check and final safety clearances, it was confirmed that the pilot was fit to fly.
Finally, the flight took off, and Shinde was able to return to Mumbai safely.
