Vijayapura: A head-on collision between a Karnataka Sarige (KSRTC) bus and a motorcycle resulted in a fatal fire, leaving one person dead and a government vehicle charred.

The incident occurred near the Kannolli Toll Gate in Sindagi Taluk, an area known for heavy transit traffic.

According to preliminary reports, the impact of the collision was so violent that the motorcycle’s fuel tank ruptured instantly, sparking a massive blaze that engulfed both vehicles within seconds.

A Gruesome End for the Rider

Witnesses at the scene described a harrowing sight as the motorcycle was pinned beneath the front chassis of the bus.

The rider, who bore the full force of the mechanical impact, was trapped as the flames erupted.

Tragically, the fire spread too rapidly for bystanders to intervene, and the individual was burned alive on the spot.

While the victim’s remains have been recovered, local authorities stated that the intensity of the fire has made immediate identification difficult.

The Sindagi Police are currently cross-referencing engine numbers and missing person reports to ascertain the identity of the deceased.

Narrow Escape for Passengers

The KSRTC bus involved in the crash, bearing registration number KA 28 F 2095, was carrying several passengers at the time of the accident.

As the bus fire spread from the bike's wreckage to the engine compartment, panic ensued in the cabin.

Fortunately, the quick thinking of the bus driver and conductor ensured a disaster of even greater proportions was averted. They immediately alerted the passengers to evacuate.

All travellers, along with the bus staff, managed to jump to safety just moments before the interior of the bus was gutted by the advancing flames. No injuries were reported among the bus occupants.

Emergency Response and Investigation

Upon receiving the alert, Fire and Emergency Services personnel from Sindagi rushed to the toll gate. It took the firefighting teams' efforts to douse the inferno and prevent the fire from spreading to nearby dry vegetation.

Sindagi police officials visited the crash site to conduct a spot inspection. The wreckage has since been moved to facilitate traffic on the busy highway.
