Ayodhya: As the countdown to the grand Ram Temple consecration ceremony on January 22, 2024, has begun, CM Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government's decision to install a 251-metre-tall statue of Lord Ram on the banks of river Saryu in Ayodhya captivated global attention. Ayodhya, the holy city and birthplace of Lord Rama, is set to witness the installation of an awe-inspiring statue of Ram Lalla, standing tall at a remarkable height.

Reports suggest that this larger-than-life sculpture, destined to become an iconic landmark, is currently being meticulously crafted at a factory in Manesar, Haryana. The colossal project, with an estimated budget of Rs 1,500 crore, signifies a monumental tribute to Lord Rama's divine presence along the banks of the Saryu River.

Renowned sculptor Narender Kumawat, hailing from Haryana, has been bestowed with the monumental responsibility of crafting this unparalleled masterpiece. The sculpture aims to etch its place as a world record as the tallest statue globally, weighing an astounding 13,000 tons upon completion.

With the world's gaze fixed on Ayodhya's impending temple consecration, eyes are also on this visionary project, poised to redefine the skyline and spiritual landscape of the sacred city of Ayodhya.

All you need to know about the larger-than-life Lord Ram statue

This statue is part of an ambitious endeavor to commemorate Lord Ram's legacy in Ayodhya and the sclupture is set to surpass the height of Sardar Patel Statue of Unity in Gujarat. Spanning approximately 100 acres along the picturesque banks of the Saryu River, this monumental project is poised to win the hearts of the Hindu devotees.

The proposed statue, set upon a substantial 50-meter base, will depict Lord Ram adorned with symbolic elements — an intricately detailed bow, arrow, and quiver. The blueprint for this iconic structure was initially deliberated in 2019 during a high-level meeting presided over by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, outlining the statue's design and overall concept.

Beyond the colossal statue's majestic presence, the project includes plans for an expansive museum nestled beneath the statue's towering pedestal. This grand museum aims to encapsulate the life and legacy of Lord Ram, offering a vivid portrayal of his journey. Moreover, the museum is set to chronicle Ayodhya's rich history, spanning from the illustrious Ikshvaku dynasty from Manu's era to the pivotal moment of Lord Ram's birth. Utilising state-of-the-art technology, the museum will offer immersive exhibits showcasing the incarnations of Lord Vishnu, offering visitors a comprehensive understanding of Hindu mythology and its revered deities.
