IMD Weather Update: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued heavy to very heavy rainfall warning for several states/UTs. 

List of States With Heavy Rainfall Warning

The IMD bulletin predicted heavy rainfall/snowfall at isolated places over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand on February 27 and 28. 

While some isolated pockets of Punjab are also expected to experience heavy rainfall on February 28, both Punjab and Haryana also get isolated hailstorm warnings.

Moderate rainfall warning issued: Know the States

The forecast mentions scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi during February 27-March 1. Isolated light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning likely over Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan during February 27-March 1 with gusty winds (speed 30-40 kmph) very likely over Punjab and Haryana on February 27-28.

As per the IMD, the northwestern India will likely see a gradual rise in minimum temperatures by 2°C during the next two days and gradual fall by 2-4℃ thereafter. The Thursday weather bulletin doesn't predict any significant change in minimum temperatures over the rest of India during the next four-five days.

The Met department has also forecasted a gradual fall in maximum temperatures by 3-5°C likely over northwestern India in the next three-four days. Konkan and Goa are likely to see a gradual fall in maximum temperatures by 2°C over the next three-four days. Central India and interior Maharashtra likely to experience a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 2-3℃ during the next three days. No significant change in maximum temperatures likely over Gujarat state during next 24 hours and gradual rise by 2-3°C thereafter. As per the bulletin, there is no significant change in maximum temperatures likely over Eastern India during the next 24 hours and gradual rise by 2-3°C thereafter.
