On the Mana Avalanche incident, DM Chamoli, Sandeep Tiwari says, "The rescue operation that began yesterday, 33 workers were rescued yesterday. 17 more have been rescued today. In total, 50 people have been rescued, 5 people are still missing and search operation is underway to trace them..."

Four workers who had been rescued earlier, have died as per the Indian Army. Furthermore, as per the Uttarakhand govt, 50 BRO construction workers of 55 have been successfully rescued.

The Uttarakhand Government stated that 49 of 55 Border Roads Organisation (BRO) workers who were trapped in the Mana avalanche have been safely rescued. It added that a rescue operation is underway to save the remaining 6 personnel.

In Joshimath, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami meets Army personnel and officials, and takes an update on the rescue and relief operation.

Out of those BRO (Border Roads Organisation) workers who have been rescued, 3 are being treated at the Army Hospital of Joshimath; so far, 47 of the total 55 trapped workers have been rescued.

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami says, "All are being rescued. Army, NDRF, ITBF, and district administration personnel are there for the rescue work. Due to heavy snowfall, all the roads connecting the site have been blocked.  We are trying to rescue all those who are still trapped as soon as possible. The 14 workers who were rescued today, all are safe, and they are being brought to joshimath"

Rescuers resumed the search for 22 labourers trapped under several feet of snow in the high-altitude Mana village in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district on Saturday morning as the weather cleared up.

Choppers are likely to be roped in for the operation if the weather permits, an official said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and inquired about the ongoing rescue operation to safely evacuate workers trapped in Mana, Chamoli district. 

He also asked about the weather conditions, including rainfall and snowfall, in the state. During the conversation, the Prime Minister assured that the central government would provide all possible assistance to handle any emergencies.

The Indian Army rescues additional 14 labours of which one found critical from the Mana Avalanche Site after relentless efforts throughout the night.
The rescued personel have been brought to Mana Army Camp for medical aid and further treatment.

Rescue operations continue with all resources available.

Two private helicopters were dispatched to Badrinath Dham, with one returning from Badrinath Mana. However, heavy snowfall has been reported on the road beyond Lam Bagad, and the focus has now shifted entirely to the helicopter rescue operation.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is continuously reviewing the ongoing rescue operations, from the CM residence. He is in continuous touch with the officials present there.

Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman says, "Inclement weather persists there. The Chief Minister is continuously monitoring the situation.

As per State Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman, 33 workers have been rescued. There were 55 workers there.

Indian Air Force has kept its medium-lift chopper Mi-17 V5s and light helicopters ready for relief operations in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand

Chamoli avalanche: "The situation is a bit better now. Rescue operation is underway. Out of 57, two are on leave. Out of the remaining 55, we have rescued 33 people," said Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman. 

According to the Uttarakhand government, 33 people have been safely rescued from the avalanche in Mana of Chamoli district.

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami was at the Disaster Control Room located at IT Park, Dehradun, to review the ongoing rescue operation after the avalanche incident in Mana of Chamoli district.

Dehradun: Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said, "... PMO, HMO, and RMO are constantly taking updates on the situation. Indian Air Force helicopters are also kept on standby and as soon as the weather clears, they will get to work. Some rescue teams are reaching by road also. We will set up a temporary control room in Joshimath. Since the workers who are trapped have come from different states, we have issued helpline numbers for them... We are just praying that everyone comes out safe... The disaster management department, district administration, ITBP, Indian Army, NDRF, and SDRF, are all working to rescue the trapped workers... We will utilise the window we get, as per the weather forecast, to airlift the rescued workers to the hospital..."

SDM Gandoh, Arun Kumar Badyal said, "Incessant rains have been going on for the last 40 hours and today morning, it started snowing heavily. Our men and machinery are on alert. All roads are being cleared. Essential services are being monitored... I urge people to avoid travelling under these adverse circumstances. All departments are on alert..."
 

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said all efforts were being taken to rescue the trapped personnel by utilising all available resources. 

In a post on X, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, "An unfortunate avalanche has occurred in the Mana area of Joshimath (Uttarakhand) today impacting a GREF camp of BRO. Spoke to CM Shri @pushkardhami regarding the situation. The administration is providing all assistance to the affected.”

Army PRO said that four of those rescued are reported to be in a critical condition. 

On the Chamoli avalanche, District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari said, "Out of 57 workers trapped in the avalanche, 32 workers have been rescued."

On the Chamoli avalanche, the Indian Army SAID, "An avalanche struck a camp here near Mana village. In this, 20 people of the Border Roads Organisation were buried. Till now, 10 persons have been rescued and are under treatment. We have inputs that 22 more persons feared buried are safe. The operation is ongoing and focused on saving lives. There is specialised medical team with 3 doctors and 4 ambulances and an engineering team which is working to rescue the trapped personnel and open the route between Mana and Joshimath." 

Google Earth visuals showed the remote spot in Chamoli amid the lofty Himalayan mountains where 20 BRO labourers are still trapped after an avalanche hit their camp.

The incident site is close to Mana, three kilometres from Badrinath and the last village on the India-Tibet border at a height of 3,200 metres.

Uttarakhand Avalanche: So far 32 workers rescued, but over 20 are still trapped under snow; NDRF teams are at the spot

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Friday said it has rushed four teams to Uttarakhand's border district of Chamoli where 41 BRO labourers have been trapped under an avalanche.

NDRF Director General (DG) Piyush Anand told PTI that apart from these teams, another four units have been kept on standby.

"The rescue mission has been activated and the Union home minister (Amit Shah) has directed for a quick response. Four NDRF teams are being rushed (to the spot)," he said.

Officials said two of these four teams have been rushed from the regional response centre (RRC) of the NDRF located in Dehradun while the other two have been diverted from Joshimath, where they were undertaking a familiarisation exercise.

On the Chamoli avalanche rescue mission, NDRF DG Piyush Anand said, "16 people have been evacuated. Four teams of NDRF have been mobilised. The Union Home Minister is monitoring this operation closely. He has spoken to both me and DG ITBP.  Our focus is on rescuing a maximum number of people. The Home Minister has given clear directions to save every life."
 

Rescue operation underway amid snowfall in Uttarakhand's border district of Chamoli where 41 BRO labourers have been trapped under an avalanche. The NDRF has rushed four teams to the spot. 

On the Chamoli avalanche, Uttarakhand Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Suman said, "The situation there is difficult as there is continuous snowfall in the area. A team of 65 people is engaged in the rescue mission. So far, 10 people have been rescued, operation is underway to rescue those trapped. We have made a demand for Army helicopters. Rescued persons have been admitted to ITBP hospital in Mana."
 

A massive avalanche struck Mana village near Shri Badrinath Dham on February 28, 2025, affecting 57 workers of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), according to Inspector General of Police, SDRF, Smt. Ridhim Agarwal.

So far, 15 workers have been rescued, while 42 remain missing, as per BRO Commandant. A State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team has been dispatched from Joshimath for rescue operations. However, road blockages at Lambagad have delayed movement, and efforts are underway with the Army to clear the route.

A second SDRF team has been placed on standby at Sahasradhara helipad. Once weather conditions improve, an SDRF high-altitude rescue team will be airlifted to the nearest location.

"Exact coordinates of the affected area have been obtained. SDRF and district administration are working closely with BRO and the Army," Agarwal stated.

A drone team is also on standby, but heavy snowfall has made drone operations impossible for now.

So far, five more people have been evacuated, including three injured who were admitted to Army Hospital, Mana, while two others are in stable condition.

Authorities have assured that every possible effort is being made to evacuate the missing workers safely.

All efforts to rescue the trapped personnel are being undertaken by utilising all available resources."

Kullu Municipal Council President Gopal Krishan Mahant said, "The flash flood started around 7 am in drains (in Kullu district), which blocked the drain, diverting the water to Gandhinagar and Shastrinagar markets and causing heavy losses."

Dehradun: Forty-one BRO labourers working to clear snow near the high altitude border village of Mana in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district were trapped under an avalanche on Friday. The snowslide had initially buried 57 men but 16 were pulled out safely.

The avalanche buried a camp of the Border Roads Organisation between Mana and Badrinath, Chamoli District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari said as multiple teams battled tough terrain, heavy snow and rain to rescue the workers. There was no immediate news of any casualties.

Mana, three kilometres from Badrinath, is the last village on the India-Tibet border at a height of 3,200 metres.

The 57 labourers were at the camp when the avalanche struck between Mana and Mana pass in the morning, Tiwari said.

"These labourers do regular snow clearing work on the route for army movement towards the Tibet border... As of now we have no news of any casualty. Rescue teams have been mobilised. But due to active snowfall and rain in the area, rescue work is slow," he said. Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and SDRF left for the spot, about 300 km from the state capital Dehradun, amid continuing snowfall and rain. "Out of the 57 BRO labourers trapped in the avalanche, 16 have been rescued. Efforts are on to rescue the rest. The help of ITBP and other departments is being taken in the rescue operations. Our disaster management department and the entire administration is fully alert," Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami told reporters.

"Our effort is to rescue all safely as soon as possible," he said Officials had been on alert for bad weather and its possible impact.

The Defence Geoinformatics Research Establishment (DGRE) in Chandigarh had issued an avalanche warning for a period of 24 hours at 5 pm on Thursday for places located above 2,400 metres in Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh and Bageshwar districts.

The MeT office in Dehradun also predicted isolated heavy rain and snowfall in locations situated at 3,500 metres and above in these districts on Friday morning. Following this, the State Emergency Operations Centre here alerted concerned district magistrates.

In an earlier post on X, Dhami said, "Received the sad news about several labourers getting trapped in an avalanche which occurred near Mana village during construction work being carried out by the BRO." "ITBP, BRO and other rescue teams have launched relief and rescue operations.

I pray to lord Badri Vishal for the safety of all the labourers," Dhami said in the post.

An avalanche struck a GREF Camp near Mana village in Garhwal Sector. A number of labourers are feared to be trapped. Indian Army’s IBEX BRIGADE swiftly launched rescue operations inspite of continuing heavy snowfall and minor avalanches. So far, 10 personnel have been rescued and are being provided medical aid by the Army. Additional troops and equipment are being staged forward to the location, Surya Command, Indian Army said in a statement. 

Heavy snowfall continues near Chamoli in Uttarakhand as over 40 workers remain trapped and operations to rescue them are on.

Footage from the Kullu district shows the aftermath of heavy rainfall in lower areas over the past 24 hours, which has led to flash floods and landslides. Operations to recover affected vehicles are currently in progress.

A group of devotees from Haryana became stranded due to an unexpected increase in the water level of the Ganges near the 'Rishikesh Janaki Jhula'.

As rescue teams make efforts to save the trapped workers, the help of Air Force has been sought. Three rescued workers have been admitted to the Army Hospital.

Individuals in the impacted regions are encouraged to exercise caution and keep themselves informed about the most recent weather updates. Officials have recommended that people refrain from any non-essential travel and remain indoors during the severe weather events.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced an orange alert for substantial rainfall and snowfall across multiple districts in Uttarakhand, which includes Uttarkashi, Chamoli, and Rudraprayag, scheduled for Friday.

After the glacier burst in Badrinath Dham, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, in a statement to the media said that 16 out of the 57 trapped workers have been rescued and the help of ITBP has also been sought. The Uttarakhand Chief Minister has said that the teams are making constant efforts to rescue everyone as soon as possible.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has extended his prayers for the safety of all the workers who are trapped beneath the snow due to the glacier burst near the Badrinath Dham.

A traffic update has been issued by the Chamoli Police in Uttarakhand following the glacier burst near the Badrinath Dham.

Following the avalanche, a massive rescue operation has been launched. Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), NDRF, and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) have been deployed to the site.

According to BRO, work was going on at a gate in the Mana village this morning when an iceberg fell on workers; the glacier burst resulted in a massive tragedy. Some people are also missing and a large-scale rescue operation has been launched.

According to the officials, the rescue operation is being negatively affected by bad weather and help of the Indian Army is also being taken. 

According to initial reports, the condition of some of the rescued people is worse, who have been admitted to the Army Hospital. 

According to the information, this avalanche accident has happened three kilometers from the Badrinath Temple. Many types of teams have been sent to the accident site to save people.

47 workers are still trapped and a search is underway for these workers; they had been hired under contract by the BRO.

A total of 57 workers were buried under the glacier that burst near Mana village in Badrinath Dham, Chamoli out of which 10 workers have been rescued.
