Gujarat adds 1,311 new COVID-19 cases; 1,414 recover, nine die

Gujarat reported 1,311 new coronavirus positive cases on Wednesday, taking its count of infections to 1,46,673, state health department said. With nine patients succumbing to the infection, including four in Ahmedabad, the overall death toll went up to 3,531, it said. While three patients died in Surat, one person succumbed each in Mehsana and Vadodara, it said.

The state's recovery rate has now reached 86.35 per cent, while the number of active cases stands at 16,485, it said.
At 280, Surat reported the highest number of new cases in the state in the day, followed by Ahmedabad with 188 fresh infections.
Rajkot and Vadodara added 134 and 123 new cases, respectively.
Among other districts, Jamnagar reported 93 cases, Mehsana 53, Gandhinagar 51, Junagadh 39, Amreli and Banaskantha 33 each, Bhavnagar and Kutch 27 each, Patan 25, Bharuch 21, Panchmahal and Sabarkantha 20 each, Morbi 15, Anand and Narmada 14 each, Navsari 13, Tapi 12, and Surendranagar ten, the department said.
51,385 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours at the rate of 790.54 tests per day per million of population, it added.
A total of 48,06,040 samples have been tested so far, the department said.
