How 19-Year-Old Ayodhya Ram Mandir Terror Suspect Abdul Rehman Was Arrested | Inside Details

New Delhi: In a significant counter-terrorism operation, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in collaboration with Haryana’s Special Task Force (STF) apprehended 19-year-old Abdul Rehman from an abandoned house in Pali village, Faridabad, Haryana, on March 2, 2025. Rehman, a resident of Milkipur in Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh, was found in possession of two live hand grenades. 

The operation was initiated following intelligence inputs received by the Gujarat ATS on February 28, 2025, indicating Rehman’s alleged connections with a terrorist organization and his involvement in plotting a major terrorist incident.

According to the sources, Rehman was heading towards Faridabad to execute the plan. This intelligence was promptly shared with the Haryana STF, leading to a coordinated operation.  

On March 2, 2025, acting on intelligence, a joint team of Gujarat ATS and Haryana STF conducted a raid in Pali village, Faridabad. Rehman was apprehended from an abandoned house, where two live hand grenades were also recovered. The bomb disposal squad was called to the scene to safely neutralize the explosives.

During interrogation, Rehman allegedly confessed that he had been receiving online training from operatives linked to the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) module for last several months.

Rehman disclosed that he participated in training sessions via video calls while at his shop in Milkipur, Uttar Pradesh.

Five days prior to his arrest, Rehman left his home in Faizabad, informing his family that he was going to a religious congregation (Markaz) in Delhi. However, he traveled to Faridabad, where he adopted a fake identity and resided in Pali village.

Investigations revealed that upon arrival in Faridabad, an unknown individual handed him two hand grenades and instructed him to stay in the area.  

Following his arrest, a joint police team has been dispatched to his native place in UP’s Faizabad to gather additional evidence and investigate potential accomplices.

According to the sources, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) has also been involved to probe deeper into Rehman’s connections and training modules.
