IFS Officer Jumps Off From Building in Delhi's Chanakyapuri, Suicide Suspected
The officer, identified as Jitendra Rawat, was reportedly undergoing treatment for depression.
New Delhi: A senior Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer died by suicide on Friday after jumping from the fourth floor of a building in Delhi’s Chanakyapuri area, police said as per PTI report.
The officer, identified as Jitendra Rawat, was reportedly undergoing treatment for depression. His mother was staying with him on the first floor of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Society building, where the incident took place.
No Foul Play Suspected
Police confirmed the incident and ruled out any foul play. "Preliminary findings suggest that Rawat was alone at the time. He went up to the fourth floor and jumped," an official said.
PTI Sources said Rawat's wife and children live in Dehradun, while he was residing in Delhi. The circumstances leading to the incident are under investigation.
Further details are awaited as police continue their probe.
