Illegal arms factory busted in West Bengal, one arrested
One person was arrested after multiple weapons were recovered from an illegal arms factory in Kashipur in Bengal, said Baruipur SP.
One person has been arrested and multiple weapons have been recovered in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas, informed Palash Chandra Dhali, Superintendent of Police, Baruipur. This comes after a smuggler disguised as a farmer was apprehended by the BSF at the India-Bangladesh border on Sunday.
He informed that the recovery had been made on Wednesday from an illegal arms factory located in Kashipur from where two large pipe guns and eight small pistols with multiple friendship tools were seized. Baruipur SP stated that the person arrested would be taken to Baruipur Court where they would plead for his custody.
BSF apprehends smuggler disguised as farmer
In its drive against trans-border smuggling, the Border Security Forces (BSF) apprehended a smuggler identified as Ali Mandal, disguised as a farmer at the India-Bangladesh border on September 16, in North 24 Parganas, West Bengal. He was found in possession of illegal arms, including one country pistol, two magazines, and five live rounds. Ali Mandal, the resident of Patkelgachha village, was arrested, while his accomplice, Lalim Mandal, managed to escape. The smuggler was trying to smuggle illegal weapons from India to Bangladesh. During preliminary interrogation, Ali Mandal admitted that he was involved in all types of cross-border smuggling.
The arrested smuggler and the seized goods were handed over to Police Station Baghdah for further legal action.
